The Islamic University – Al-Diwaniyah Branch extends its congratulations to Lecturer Dr. Zahraa Khudhair Al-Khafaji, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, on her collaboration with researchers from Iraqi and international universities in publishing a research article in BMC Endocrine Disorders (2026 issue), entitled:
Association between the Novel Dietary Index for Gut Microbiota, Biomarkers of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and Metabolic Parameters among Women of Reproductive Age
The study investigated the relationship between a gut microbiota-supportive dietary index and biomarkers of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, while also evaluating the impact of this dietary pattern on metabolic parameters among women of reproductive age.
The findings revealed a positive association between adherence to a gut microbiota-supportive diet and improvements in several immune and metabolic biomarkers, suggesting that this dietary approach may serve as a complementary strategy in the management of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
The researchers also emphasized the need for further long-term studies to strengthen the scientific evidence and establish a causal relationship between dietary patterns and disease outcomes.
